With decades of teaching experience since 1981, I bring a lifetime of knowledge and love for the underwater world to every course. Welcome to my world!
I’m Luis E. Fonseca, a passionate freediving instructor and ocean advocate with over 40 years of experience teaching and managing underwater adventures across Venezuela and the Caribbean.
Eleven years ago, I made the difficult decision to leave my beloved Venezuela, a country I hold close to my heart. The oppressive dictatorship and corruption made it impossible to continue working in my field with dignity. Rather than compromise my values, I chose to start anew. Since then, I’ve found a new home in the stunning Dutch Caribbean islands of Saba, Bonaire, and St. Eustatius.
For me, freediving is much more than a sport. It’s a profound journey into the self—a way to connect deeply with the ocean and experience a state of absolute freedom and mindfulness. It’s about exploring not only the underwater world but also the depths of our inner being.
I’m deeply passionate about guiding others through this transformative experience. With patience and understanding, I help my students overcome their fears, building confidence and a true connection to the aquatic world.
In my courses, you’ll learn to harmonize your body and mind with the water. We’ll focus on relaxation, mental work, and breathing techniques, creating a holistic experience that integrates physical, mental, and spiritual awareness. My goal isn’t just to teach you how to freedive—it’s to help you connect with the ocean, its creatures, and the essence of nature itself, all while discovering a deeper connection with yourself.
As an AIDA, PADI, and CMAS-certified instructor, my teaching philosophy centers on self-awareness rather than chasing numbers or records. Freediving, for me, is about transcending ego and embracing the beauty of simplicity, stillness, and harmony.
